To/from the ferry at Scrabster as a foot passenger
The X99 bus is the direct route between the ferry terminal at Scrabster and the centre of Inverness (where you can change onto the airport bus). These two buses will take just under 5 hours.
If you get the train to/from Thurso, you will need to take a 5 minute taxi ride from the Scrabster ferry terminal. There are direct train services between Thurso and Inverness (which take around 4 hours).
As of July 2022, the train fare between Thurso and Inverness is £23.70 (single). The bus between the ferry terminal at Scrabster and the centre of Inverness costs £21.60 (one way).
Unless you are in a car, it’s not easy to get to Gills Bay
The ferry to/from John O’Groats only operates during the summer months and is for foot passengers only.
